At the Ice Hockey Museum in Moscow, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation presented the national program for training young players called the "Red Machine."

The national program includes a new philosophy of training players and a series of methodical literature for coaches of children's ice hockey schools. They collected a large amount of ice hockey skating techniques, puck control skills, theory lessons, tactics, physical training methods and diets. There will be age groups between 6 and 18 and all methods are in agreement with the phased development program for the player's age and philosophy.

At the moment, there are groups created for children between the ages of 8 and 10. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation are working over benefits which will be given to other age groups. The programs will come into effect from the 2018/2019 season with some schools in Moscow and the North-West region. In the 2019/2020 campaign, it's planned that this program will be introduced to all schools in the Russian Federation.

RIHF president Vladislav Tretiak:

- Today is a special day for Russian ice hockey. We have revealed the new national program for training players, Our ice hockey is full of victories, fantastic coaches, great players and brilliant teams. It's developing, there are more ice hockey rinks appearing, new children's schools are coming and it is becoming more popular every day. However, we are still moving forward. We have to watch not only the development, but also give ice hockey a new impulse and tendencies.

RIHF board chairman Arkady Rotenberg:

- The national program for training ice hockey players is a unique product produced by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. These are methods for coaches and heads of ice hockey schools which will be useful for parents of the players.
