Reaction after the 2018 Women's U18 World Championship bronze medal game
14.01.2018
Russia W18 defender Vita Ponyatovskaya:
- We really wanted to win, the fans supported us, but we couldn't do it. However, it was great to beat Canada in the opening game. In the future, I will try to help the team to pick up medals at World Championships. Did I feel the fans' support? Yes, they supported us fantastically. They helped us, but we couldn't take a medal. It's really good that women's ice hockey is popular, I hope it develops further. The coach said that we need to have a more serious focus for these matches, we'll prepare for future tournaments.
Russia W18 forward Polina Luchnikova:
- Thanks to the fans for believing in us until the end. I apologise to the whole of Russia for not meeting expectations at the home World Championship, we could have made history. However, this is not the end. We will win next time.
