The RIHF and KHL have signed a protocol of intent with a Chinese ice hockey club

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation President Vladislav Tretyak, the chairman of the KHL board of directors Gennady Timchenko and the chairman of HC Red Star Kunlun (Beijing) board of directors Ngok Yan Yu have signed a protocol of intent which agrees to the participation of the Chinese ice hockey club in the 2016/2017 KHL season.

In line with protocol, a new member of the open Russian championship much present financial guarantee for the minimal amount of finances before the 30th of April 2016, and it must comply with all conditions imposed on clubs for league participation. Also, it must adhere to all rules established by the KHL championship.

In order for the finalization of HC Red Star Kunlun's participation in the KHL, the RIHF will conduct inspections of the Beijing club's infastructure. If the club fits all of the KHL's requirements, the final decision will be made by the KHL's board of directors.
