World Championship. Latvia - Russia

09.05.2016

Today on the 9th of May, the Russian national team will take on Latvia for the third game of the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Moscow.

Russia plays Latvia nearly every year at this tournament, with these teams meeting three times out of the past five World Championships. Indeed Russia have come out on top on all three of those occasions, with 5:2, 6:0 and 4:1 wins being taken in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively.

In this year's competition, Russia recovered from the opening day loss to the Czechs with a thrilling 6:4 beating of Kazakhstan, and will be confident coming into this. Nevertheless, Latvia are dogged opponents, and they were unlucky to lose to both Sweden in overtime (1:2) and the Czech Republic (3:4 SO).

If you can't come to the stadium, we remind you that you can attend free fan-zones in Moscow at the Legends Park and Gorky Park, and in Saint Petersburg at Konyushennaya Square.

The Latvia - Russia match will begin at 16:15 local time inside the Moscow Ice Palace. Match TV will broadcast live in Russia, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
