Russia - USA. Press-conference

22.05.2016

Russian head coach Oleg Znarok:

- There is nothing much to say. I congratulate everyone with the bronze medal, it was an interesting game.

- After the semi-final against Finland, can you say why hosts never win the World Championship.

- I prepared for this game.

- Finally, you scored on the powerplay. Is this down to changes?

- No. We had chances in other matches, we simply couldn’t hit the net.

American head coach John Hynes:

- It was an opportunity for us to win a medal. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to recover after yesterday’s game to compete today.

- Although the team lost, it was a great tournament for you, and no one expected the USA to be alive at this stage of the competition.

- We don’t have a lot of stars, but we had a lot of experienced players balanced with younger ones, and we proved a lot of people wrong. There is some satisfaction in this.

- Do you think that your guys left everything on the ice yesterday?

- It’s a tough turnaround, especially after playing an emotional game yesterday. Nevertheless, we were ready to play, and some things didn’t go our way. We tried hard to compete, and during the last few years, we have always been in the top four.

- Who would you single out from your team with the World Cup in mind?

- Not many of our guys will play at the World Cup. We have a younger group, however maybe some of our older players will be candidates.
