Interviews after Russia U18 and U17 faced each other

05.02.2025
Interviews were taken following the opening match of the Future Cup between the U18 and U17 Russian national teams.

Russia U18 head coach Dmitry Mikhailov:

"We took advantage of our opportunities and pressed well. The opponents played with flair and are younger than us, but our players will develop thanks to such tense, hard-fought games. Our guys proved that they deserve to be here and to represent their national team. It was an even game overall, we had the advantage for certain periods."

Russia U17 head coach Pavel Kanarsky:

"Our players were nervous in the first period, but they subsequently played with more freedom in the second and third frames. I liked the ice hockey which they displayed. When you play against an older team, you always want to play with speed, desire and determination to prove that you're stronger. Will we make changes for Saturday? Yes, some of our players have sustained injuries."

Russia U18 captain Daniil Prokhorov:

"The first match at any competition is always the toughest. Was I a bit nervous as a consequence of being named captain? No, I had always been the team captain when playing at school level. I think that I coped with my responsibility today. My goal? I saw the shooting lane open up, so I tried my luck and hit the target."
