Vladislav Tretiak attended the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Viktor Tikhonov

A memorial plaque to Viktor Tikhonov was unveiled in Moscow.
The ceremony took place on the 10th anniversary of the death of the legendary Soviet and Russian coach. The plaque is be located on the façade of the building on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street in Moscow, where Tikhonov lived for many years.
One of the most honourred guests at the ceremony was Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF). Tretiak played for the USSR and CSKA Moscow under Tikhonov's leadership from 1977 to 1984, notably winning the Olympic Games, the Canada Cup and five World Championships.

– The unveiling of the memorial plaque gives us the opportunity to remember one of the greatest coaches of Russian and world ice hockey. As head coach of the Soviet national team, Viktor won three Olympic gold medals and eight World Championship titles. Viktor's intelligent innovations and ideas were ahead of their time, and set the course for ice hockey development for decades to come. Tikhonov still stands as an example of determination, dedication and loyalty to his principles. Viktor's legacy continues to live on among the next generation.
