Nikolai Voevodin speaks after winning the Future Cup
10.11.2024
Nikolai Voevodin, the head coach of the under 20 Russian national team, shared his emotions after winning the Future Cup in Saint Petersburg.
Russia U20 head coach Nikolai Voevodin:
"Today, I can say that our players displayed ice hockey worthy of the Russian national team. They fought hard, gave everything they had and tried their best without anyone fading. In our preceding games, we had gone down to three lines in order to protect the result, but today we managed to play with all four until the end. No one played individually, instead they all competed for the benefit of the team. The sold-out Yubileyny Arena witnessed the ice hockey which I had wanted our team to display.
"I was happy that it was easier to score goals today in comparison to our previous matches. The large score? It was tough for us for half of the game, the Belarusians had chances of their own but our goalkeeper was solid. The score doesn't reflect the difficulty of the match. Georgy Ovchinnikov received an injury? It's just a bruise, he'll be back tomorrow."
