Interviews after Russia U16 won the President's Sporting Club Cup
09.11.2024
Interviews were taken with representatives of the under 16 Russian national team after our side won the President's Sporting Club Cup.
Russia U16 head coach Anton Kadeikin:
"We were competing against team two years older than us, so it was certainly a challenging game for us. The opponents played in a proactive manner and caused us plenty of problems.
"Our guys became a bit nervous when our lead was reduced to one, but we tried to calm them down and, thankfully, we managed to emerge victorious.
"The approach which we use? We're teaching the players to always take the initiative and play on the front foot. This was a really useful tournament for our players, they played against older opponents which will stand them in good stead for eventually making their MHL debuts."
Russia U16 forward Daniil Savin:
"It was a tough final against a much more experienced team. The first period was excellent for us, we took the game to the opponents and didn't allow them to impose themselves. Unfortunately, our penalties took their toll in the second, but we coped with their pressure and didn't let them turn the match on its head. I scored the winning goal? I'm happy about that of course, but the main thing is that we finished in first place of the table!"
