Russia U18 head coach Dmitry Mikhailov speaks after playing Belarus U20
08.11.2024
The head coach of the under 18 Russian national team Dmitry Mikhailov spoke to the media after his players lost to Belarus U20 in Saint Petersburg.
Russia U18 head coach Dmitry Mikhailov:
"We were lacking freshness following yesterday's game. However, just like yesterday, I have no issues whatsoever with our players' commitment. Even when the opponents had a large advantage on the ice, we knew what needed to be done.
"The age difference between the two sides? The only main difference is the understanding of the game; older players are more rational and understand how to act in certain situations. The upcoming 3x3 competition? It's a really interesting format for us. Some of the guys who haven't played as much during the competition will take to the ice.
"Ivan Ryabkin is lacking ice time in the KHL? Ivan is in good form, this tournament is a test for him. I've known him for a long time, he has the required leadership qualities and character."
