The RIHF provided coaches with recommendations for the Red Machine National Development Program
Over the five-year period of implementation of the Red Machine National Development Program, an assessment system has been formed which allows for the rapid identification of difficulties in coaching young ice hockey players and the development of recommendations for overcoming them.
Very often, during master classes, coaches representing the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) encounter the fact that young players at the initial training stage may have significant differences in the level of technical ability. Experts note that mastering some techniques is very difficult and requires effort and time. One of the possible reasons is the low level of physical and functional fitness. This can be corrected in three or four targeted sessions with the correct selection of exercises both on and off the ice.
Despite the fact that the Red Machine National Development Program is aimed at prioritising the increase in the level of technical readiness of players, mastering the basic level of physical fitness runs like a red thread through all stages of long-term sports training. According to most coaches, combining physical training off the ice with exercises on the ice can significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of a young athlete's technical ability. This conclusion can be made based on the process of monitoring the results of work using innovative methods of the Red Machine National Development Program, which was developed and is being implemented by the RIHF with the support of its general partner, Nornickel.
