23.10.2024
Dmitry Ukolov, a legendary Soviet ice hockey player who won gold at the 1954 World Championship and the 1956 Olympic Games, would have turned 95 years of age today.

Ukolov was rightly considered one of the best Soviet defensemen during the 1950s. Furthermore, he scored the USSR's first hat-trick in the history of the World Championship in the triumphant 1954 tournament, netting three goals during a 7:0 win against Switzerland.

He sadly passed away on 25 November 1992 as a result of cancer.
