Reaction after Russia U20 defeated Kazakhstan U20

03.11.2023
Under 20 Russian national team head coach Nikolai Voevodin and forward Vyacheslav Malov shared their feelings after easing past Kazakhstan U20 by an emphatic score of 12:1 at the Liga Stavok Cup of the Future.

Russia U20 head coach Nikolai Voevodin:

- We had been preparing for this tournament across the past week. The players have all come from different clubs, so therefore they required time to adapt to our style of ice hockey. I didn't particularly like how we started the game, but we subsequently improved and had fun on the ice. Certain aspects which require improvement are our powerplay and how we move out from defence. Did I expect us to score so many goals? I had hoped for this to happen. This is a team win.

Russia U20 forward Vyacheslav Malov:

- I would give our team around seven or eight out of 10 today, because there are aspects which we must improve. Nevertheless, after we had scored a couple of goals, we did then manage to play a lot better. My goal? After receiving a pass from Grigory Osipov, I cut inside from the flank and managed to score. Given that we were already leading by a large score, I decided to try my luck. However, tomorrow the match will be a lot tougher, so we have to be fully prepared.
