Khabarovsk will stage the federal district championship for players born in 2001
Between the 24th of November and the 2nd of December 2016, the championship for federal district teams born in 2001 will take place inside Khabarovsk's Platinum Arena. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation will organise this event, and it will be the first time for a number of years that the tournament has been held in the Far East. The decision to have the tournament in Khabarovsk was undertaken by the RIHF with the support of Khabarovsky Kray's chief Vyacheslav Shport.
This tournament will assist not only the development of ice hockey in the region, but also to players born in 2001, as this is the final championship on this level before they move up to senior level.
Vladislav Tretyak, Russian Ice Hockey Federation president:
- Our country is huge, and it's great that such an event for youth ice hockey will take place in Khabarovsk. This will be a true test of these fifteen year old players' abilities. I want to thank Khabarovsky Kray's chief for helping the development of the sport.
