RIHF statement following the IIHF's decision concerning Ivan Fedotov
14.08.2023
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has submitted documents to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF), in which it has revealed its position with regard to goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov signing a contract with HC CSKA Moscow for the 2023/2024 season.
The IIHF has stated that due to Fedotov already holding a valid contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the signing of an agreement with CSKA is a violation of international transfer regulations. As a consequence of this violation, sanctions have been imposed on both Fedotov and HC CSKA.
The RIHF has sent the IIHF's documents to HC CSKA. The club now has a seven-day period in which to submit its plan of action. If the organisation decides to appeal the decision made by the IIHF, the RIHF will provide HC CSKA with full support when the case is considered by the IIHF's Disciplinary Committee.
