"How much I do I love hockey? I can’t even describe. In Russia, we don’t really have a Christmas break, but from December 31 to January 3, everything closed. Even hockey school. These were the worst days of my life. Four days with no hockey, I get so depressed. I can’t even sleep. Just sit watching YouTube of Kovalev and wait."
Came close to Peter Forsberg's record
At the 2012 World Junior Championship, Evgeny netted a hat trick and notched up six assists in a thrashing of Latvia. However, despite that remarkable performance, Evgeny couldn't beat Peter Forsberg's record of ten points in a 20:1 demolition job of Japan.
Tomorrow, Evgeny will compete in Russia's second World Cup of Hockey warm-up match against the Czech Republic away.
