Russia have lost for the first time on penalty shots in 92 friendly matches.
For the fifteenth time, Russia and the Czech Republic went all the way to the shootout. We have eight victories compared to the Czechs' seven. Our team have played in 57 penalty shootouts overall, and 30 of them have been either against the Czech Republic or Finland.
Semyon Varlamov made his 30th Russian national team appearance, and this was his first shootout defeat with the side.
Dmitry Orlov and Ivan Telegin both played their 15th Russia match.
Forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has 30 points with Russia (16+14).
Out of all the players on this current squad, Nikita Kucherov is the first player to score in both of his first two games.
