Vladimir Yurzinov's seminar in Tambov
Ahead of the Student Hockey League's opening, honoured USSR and Russian ice hockey coach Vladimir Yurzinov held a seminar for coaches and players of the competition.
During his speech, Vladimir talked about the chance for players not only to play ice hockey, but also to gain a qualification. Also, he noted that the Student Hockey League is an opportunity for the players to build a professional career for the future. Video material concerning players' training for seasons was also shown.
Alongside Vladimir Yurzinov, successful Russian ice hockey player Alexei Yashin was also present at the seminar. He told his own personal story of how he got into ice hockey. After the seminar's finish, coaches and players could ask questions as well as taking autographs and photos.
World champion and honoured Russian Master of Sport Alexei Yashin:
- When saying that the players are young, Vladimir was right. We should always be ready to assist them and share our experiences. I think that the Student Hockey League will help the players not only with the sport, but also in their studies. This will in turn make our country move forward. I wish them all success!
Eduard Zhirnov, Tver State University player:
- I liked the fact that Vladimir Yurzinov pointed out the fact that apart from sport, we need to develop our thinking too. As we become older, we understand if we will become players or work somewhere else. Education is very important in this aspect. This is the first time that I have taken part in such a seminar, and I really enjoyed it. Before this, I had only seen Vladimir Yurzinov on HC Lokomotiv's bench when I was a little boy with my father.
