About
U18
In 1967, the first international tournament between eight junior national teams took place upon the USSR Hockey Federation's and the Czechoslovakia Hockey Union's initiative. The competition became the base for the eventual European championships among youth teams. Since 1999, the World U18 Championships have been taking place, following on from the youth championships which were held since 1967. Russia U18 have won 16 World Championships (1967, 1969-1971, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1989, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2007). The team competes in Four Nations tournaments as well as the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, a competition which sees the world's best young players come together. Head coach - Igor Yefimov.
