Meeting of organising committees for the 2023 World Junior Championship

A joint meeting of regional organising committees for the preparation and staging of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship took place in Novosibirsk and Omsk.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Azat Kadyrov, Executive Director of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation Dmitry Kurbatov, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov and Governor of  Omsk Region Alexander Burkov.

One of the main stages of preparation for the international event is the construction of multifunctional sporting complexes in Omsk and Novosibirsk.

The pace of the construction of the arena in Novosibirsk has increased. Meanwhile, the technical readiness of the complex in Omsk is 40%. Construction is proceeding in accordance with the schedule, all six floors of the main building have already been erected.

In Novosibirsk, the thermal circuit of the building is being closed: the roof ceilings have been put in place, and the metal structures of the facade and double-glazed windows are being installed. Inside the building, the floors and stands are in place, while the heating, ventilation and water supply systems are ready.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of organising air connections between the host cities during the championship. The Government of the Omsk Region, together with S7 Airlines, is organising at least three additional regular flights between Omsk and Novosibirsk for fans and guests. For this, the two regions need to provide co-financing.
