Vladislav Tretiak, the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF), held a series of meetings during his time in Yekaterinburg.
Tretiak discussed local sporting development with Artyom Zhoga, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation. Issues included the participation of Ural-based teams in professional league, the development of young players and increasing public engagement in healthy lifestyles. Particular attention was paid to sporting infrastructure and the creation of opportunities for engaging in physical activities.
Furthermore, Tretiak and RIHF Deputy General Director Alexander Kiknadze also held a meeting with the heads of regional ice hockey federations within the Ural Federal District. The results of current ice hockey development efforts were analysed, before plans for future projects were subsequently put in place.

RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"The Urals continually produce ice hockey stars, candidates for the Russian national team and also athletes who represent our country fantastically in other sporting disciplines. One of the key factors in our development and progress is the involvement of the senior leadership, therefore it's great that the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Ural Federal District pays attention to sport and is well aware of the industry's current issues and needs. We will achieve our goals thanks to productive exchanges of experiences and regular interaction. Of course, it helps that Artyom himself is passionate about sport and attends important ice hockey events.
"During our meeting with the heads of regional federations, we discussed a wide range of issues such as youth competitions, plans for the construction of new rinks and ensuing that coaches possess all of the required qualifications for their respective roles. The methods of the Red Machine National Development Program are being implemented here, and we are discussing different areas in which we can cooperate too. Our efforts to develop ice hockey are working, progress is being witnessed across all areas and our key objectives are being achieved. Nevertheless, we aren't prepared to stop here; we're constantly striving to improve. I am sincerely grateful to all specialists for their hard work, professionalism, commitment and willingness to cooperate together in order to achieve our common goals. Ice hockey is a team sport, and this concerns both the game itself on the ice and our efforts off it. The foundations for progress and future victories are being put in place."
