Reaction following the second day of the Eurasia Jastar Cup

03.02.2026
Interviews were taken after the second day of the Eurasia Jastar Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Russia U16 head coach Alexander Tomilov:

"I'm happy with the team. We struggled in the second stanza as a consequence of running into trouble with our shifts, but we were strong in the first and showed our team spirit in the third. We'll now prepare for the 3-on-3 tournament."

Russia U16 forward Fyodor Bondarenko:

"The Belarusians made it tough for us. In terms of our game, we need to capitalise on our opportunities more effectively and track back in defence quicker. We competed as a united unit and supported one another."

Russia W head coach Valeri Davletshin:

"I enjoyed the game. The Kazakhs performed well, whereas we worked on our positional play in defence and our counter-attacks. The girls played better today, they scored four goals and used their chances. They're improving with every passing match. In comparison to the first game, today we committed less mistakes."

Russia W forward Veronika Korzhakova:

"In my opinion, this was a good match from our point of view. This was the first time when we scored so many goals during one particular game! After we had netted the opener, the Kazakhs began playing with more intensity. The difference between male and female ice hockey? Men think and play quicker."
