RIHF president Vladislav Tretiak:
- The Channel One Cup is our traditional festive tournament. Furthermore, this year will be the 55th occasion when this competition has taken place. As usual, the tournament will be shown on television on Channel One, with the main focus on the Russian national team.
Due to the circumstances, our Russia U25 team will not participate in the tournament. There is a really tough schedule in the domestic league, the KHL All-Star Game is coming up and several clubs have an issue with players becoming ill. However, some players from RU25 will play for the senior Russian side instead.
Fans will see the RU25 team in action next May. For the first time in history of this competition, a 3-on-3 tournament will be held, with China also participating in it alongside Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The supporters will enjoy watching the thrilling action with plenty of goals!
