Vladislav Tretiak spoke to the U20 and U18 Russian national teams

10.11.2022
Vladislav Tretiak, the president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF), spoke to players of the U20 and U18 Russian national teams ahead of the upcoming Liga Stavok Cup of the Future, which will take place at the Yubileyny Arena in Saint Petersburg next week.
President of the RIHF Vladislav Tretiak:
- The RIHF is doing everything to ensure that fans can still watch international matches involving Russia. The Liga Stavok Cup of the Future, which will begin on Sunday, is the first big international competition involving our national teams this season. It will greatly help the development of ice hockey in our country!
The name of the tournament is symbolic. Among its participants there are many talented guys who can grow into real stars, and it's no coincidence that a number of players called up to the youth teams are already playing in the KHL and VHL.
The talent of this generation is confirmed by their international achievements. The tournament will feature players who have previously won the Youth Olympic Games and reached the final of the 2021 Junior World Championship, in which they had every chance of defeating Canada. The main thing is to work hard, be disciplined and strive for progress every day, in every training session. I told the guys that everything is in their hands. With the right approach, they can grow into top-class athletes.
Experience at this level will help them. The RIHF creates conditions for the development of young players. They have the opportunity to train under the guidance of the best specialists, to show their talents at the highest level.
At this competition, the Russian junior national teams will strive to display exciting, attacking ice hockey for the supporters. If you're in Saint Petersburg, we invite you to the arena to enjoy the competition with your own eyes! But, if you aren't, then you can watch the tournament online.
I would like to extend my gratitude to Belarus and Kazakhstan for travelling to the competition!
