Women's World Championship. Finland - Russia

Today on the 31st of March, the senior Russian women's national team will play the first match of their World Championship against Finland.

These two teams have lots of history against each other, with Russia beating Finland in the bronze medal playoff game in two of the past five World Championships. The latest triumph came just last year, as our team defeated the Finns 2:0 in the penalty shootout after it finished in 0:0 in regulation and overtime.

Traditional favourites America and Canada make up the rest of Group A. In Group B, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland will all play against each other. The top two teams from Group A will be given a bye to the semi-finals, while the bottom two from the same group will compete in the quarter-final stage against the best two Group B sides.

Russian forward Olga Sosina and Anna Shokhina will miss the match against Finland due to disqualification.

The Finland W - Russia W match will begin st 23:00 Moscow time. A live broadcast can be found here:
