Women's World Championship. Russia - Germany

The senior Russian women's national team will compete in the World Championship quarter-final stage against Germany.

Despite beating Finland 2:1 in the opening Group A game, Russia then dropped 0:7 and 0:8 defeats to America and Canada respectively. With the Finns beating Canada 4:3, Russia slipped down to last place of the group and will play Germany in the quarter-finals. Germany have been excellent in the tournament so far, finishing ahead of Sweden after winning two of their three matches.

Russia and Germany last met in the 2014 World Championship, a fixture which the Russians won 4:0. During various tournaments this season, Russia have beaten Germany three times by a combined score of 19:5 (7:3, 7:0 and 5:2).

The Russia - Germany match will begin at 02.35 Moscow time. Match TV and Match-Igra will broadcast live.
