World Championship. USA U18 - Russia U18 - 5:4
In Slovakia, the under 18 Russian national team played their second World Championship game against their American counterparts. Head coach Sergei Golubovich kept the team largely the same, keeping faith in goalkeeper Maxim Zhukov.
Following a bright start, Pavel Koltygin broke the deadlock for Russia, The team held on to that advantage until the second stanza, where the Americans took over. Grant Mishmash and Ryan Poehling (2) scored quickfire goals, giving his team a 3:1 advantage.
Josh Norris and Evan Barratt extended the American lead later on, however the Russians weren't giving up. Late markers from Mikhail Bitsadze, Kirill Slepets and Ivan Chekhovich made it a nervy ending, but despite their best efforts, they couldn't complete a dramatic comeback.
