In the maiden match of the 2022 Liga Stavok St. Petersburg Cup, the senior Russian national team outlasted the under 20 Russian national team in an entertaining encounter, emerging victorious by a score of 4:2.

Goals from Matvei Averochkin and Vladimir Grudinin - sandwiched by Maxim Krovyakov's equaliser for the senior team - had given the junior side a slender 2:1 advantage after 40 minutes of play.

However, the senior team snatched the win midway through the third frame, as Nikita Tertyshny and Marat Khusnutdinov scored twice within a matter of 12 seconds to turn the game on its head.

Nikita Chibrikov subsequently hit the empty net in the concluding minutes to seal the deal.

Tomorrow, at 19:00 local time, the senior Russian national team will host Belarus in the second match of the tournament.
