The IIHF Commission has completed its work in Novosibirsk and Omsk

The three-day visit of the delegation representing the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in Novosibirsk and Omsk, where the 2023 World Junior Championship will be staged, has ended.

IIHF Deputy Secretary General and Events Director Hannes Ederer, Sporting Director Christian Hofstetter and Events Manager Florian Mayer assessed the cities' preparations for the competition.

When speaking with Alexander Burkov, the governor of Omsk Region, members of the delegation expressed their satisfaction with what they saw. For his part, the governor assured the delegation that the construction of the Omsk Arena will be completed in 2022, and that the adjacent territory will be landscaped by next September.

"Today's visit of representatives of the international and Russian ice hockey federations is important for us, it will help to adjust the preparation program for the World Championship," said Alexander Burkov. "We will complete the construction of the Hilton and Cosmos hotels, and we will be ready in terms of accommodation and hotel services. We are also solving transport issues, with Gazprom and Gazprom Neft helping us. We plan to purchase at least 25 shuttles for both the fans and the participating teams."

The governor also noted that the region will make every effort to ensure that the tournament leaves its mark on the infrastructure of Omsk.
