Germany Cup. Switzerland - Russian Olympic team - 3:2

The Russian Olympic team came up short of the concluding 2021 Germany Cup match, conceding a narrow 2:3 defeat to Switzerland.

Our players initially took a two-goal lead from Yury Pautov - on the powerplay - and Sergei Goncharuk. However, the Swiss equalised with two quickfire markers towards the end of the second stanza as Andres Ambuhl and Sven Andrighetto hit the target, before the opponents notched their decisive third goal from Inti Pestoni with a little less than two minutes remaining in the third period.

Goaltender Andrei Kareev stopped 29 of the 32 Swiss shots he faced.

Russia have consequently finished in fourth spot of the tournament table with three defeats in three games.
