2021 Women's World Championship. Russia - Japan - 2:0

In the concluding match of the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship in Calgary, Canada, the senior Russian women's national team defeated Japan to finish in fifth position of the competition.

Valeria Pavlova and Viktoriya Kulishova scored a goal each in the first and third periods respectively, while solid goaltender Valeria Merkusheva stopped all 21 Japanese shots she faced.

As a consequence of claiming fifth spot at the tournament, Russia have indeed managed to maintain a place in Group A for the 2022 World Championship.
