Reaction after beating Switzerland at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup
03.08.2021
Following the emphatic 9:2 victory in the second match of the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup against Switzerland, under 18 Russian national team head coach Vladimir Filatov and forward Alexander Perevalov shared their emotions:
Russia U18 head coach Vladimir Filatov:
- Yes, we managed to score nine goals, but I am thinking about the two goals which we conceded as a result of losing our concentration. We told the players about our concerns in the dressing room. When playing against the Czech Republic tomorrow, we have to focus on our own performance, maintain discipline, follow the game plan and not take penalties. We will now watch the Czechs play Finland. Of course, we are following what is happening in the other group, but we will only analyse them in more detail when the knockout rounds begin.
Russia U18 forward Alexander Perevalov:
- It was a good match, we won and followed the coaches' plan. We didn't play at our best in the first period, but the coaches made changes during the break and we subsequently began to play our brand of ice hockey. We're used to playing in a lot of consecutive games, when we were children we even participated in seven matches in seven days. The coaches will now show us how to compete tactically against the Czech Republic, we will show our ice hockey.
