Reaction after winning the Swedish Hockey Games in Malmo

14.02.2021
Following the entertaining 7:4 victory against the Czech Republic in the concluding match of the 2021 Swedish Hockey Games in Malmo, acting Russian national team head coach Igor Larionov, defenseman Daniil Misyul and forward Nikita Chibrikov all shared their emotions with the media:

Acting head coach Igor Larionov:

- Our second goal directly before the end of the second period played a major role in this result, we knew the importance of not going into the break trailing by two. We understood that the Czech Republic are always very threatening when competing on the counter-attack. We competed with patience, holding the puck and scoring our goals. The players showed that they have plenty of character. The importance of winning the Euro Hockey Tour? It's key to win any competition, the players had to prove their worth to win all of these games. Such matches allow you to progress and develop.

Defenseman Daniil Misyul:

- Lokomotiv's players enjoyed a successful tournament? All of us here played well, I think. We can feel the coaches' faith. Our task is to attack in a group of five and defend in a group of five. What kind of coach is Igor Larionov? He is very calm, and he always supports us. All of us fought for each other.

Forward Nikita Chibrikov:

- Confidence only comes from working hard. I wasn't afraid on the ice, I've already participated in a lot of KHL matches so I understand what is required at this level. Of course, I was surprised to be called up to the national team for this competition, but I'm training well in order to continue progressing. My teammates gave me the puck after I scored my goal in the third period, my marker is a gift for my parents: they are always supporting me.
