In the third match of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, the under 20 Russian national team proved too strong for Austria, easing to a comfortable 7:1 victory in Edmonton, Canada.

Rodion Amirov - with a penalty shot - , Vasily Podkolzin - twice - and Marat Khusnutdinov all scored in the first period to open up a commanding four-goal lead. In the second, the Austrians did manage to beat Artur Akhtyamov in the Russian goal once, but Artemiy Knyazev, Yegor Afanasyev and Arseniy Gritsyuk subsequently completed the job for our team in the third frame.

Russia will now prepare to face Sweden in the concluding group game tomorrow. Puck-drop is scheduled for 05:30 Moscow time.
