Daniil Chayka: "A lot of talented players have gathered at the Red Machine Development Camp"
04.09.2020
Defenseman Daniil Chayka, who was born in 2002 and is currently participating at the Red Machine Development Camp in Moscow, shared his impressions from the training process:
"Thank you to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation for giving me the opportunity to participate in this training camp," said Daniil. "The club season will only begin on December 1, so it's great that I do have a chance to keep in shape here at the moment. Everything from the training sessions, the atmosphere and the group of players here is fantastic, the facilities are wonderful. I have known coach Sergei Golubovich for a long time too. In Canada, I play for the Guelph Storm, a club competing in the OHL. Our most recent match took place in April before I subsequently returned to Russia. During the self-isolation period, I trained at home and studied for my exams. My mother was happy to have me at home for so long."
"At first, it was tricky when returning to the training process with the junior Russian national team at the Sochi Hockey Open, but we quickly got back into the routine," continued the defenseman. "Only players representing North American clubs initially trained before the guys from Russian teams joined on July 25. I'm hoping that the 2020/2021 season will run smoothly. I will do all I can to be selected to represent the junior national team at major international competitions."
