The RIHF is holding a Red Machine Development Camp

03.09.2020
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation has been holding a Red Machine Development camp in Moscow for players born between 2000 and 2003 in Moscow since August 24.

The players, who play their club ice hockey in North America, are representatives of the Russian junior national teams. Their club season has been delayed as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sergei Golubovich, who is a coach of the under 20 Russian national team, is running the process alongside fellow specialists. It is taking place at the Centre of Ice Hockey Quality with training sessions being witnessed both on and off the ice.

Red Machine Development Camp coach Sergei Golubovich:

- The Russian Ice Hockey Federation has given those players who can't compete at club level yet a chance to keep in shape. It's important for them to see that the federation cares. Here, we are putting the emphasis on their physical and technical qualities, we are holding training sessions four times a week. We train for one hour in the gym and for around 90 minutes on the ice.

Forward and Red Machine Development Camp participant Dmitry Zavgorodny:

- I would like to thank the Russian Ice Hockey Federation for organising this camp under the guidance of coaches. The facilities here are great, this is an opportunity for us to improve and develop the skills which are required during matches. All of us know each other well. What did I do during the self-isolation period? I arrived back from Canada in March and I subsequently spent time with my family in Omsk. I bought gym equipment for home in order to keep in good shape. I then made the trip to Moscow to begin skating on the ice again, I really miss participating in games!
