24.01.2020
A Red Machine training camp has started in Zapolyarniy, which has been organised by both Nornickel and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF).

This is the second successive year in which the training camp has been held.

RIHF coaches and three-time world champion, USSR Master of Sport Irek Gimaev will run the training sessions. 80 players of ice hockey schools from Zapolyarniy, Nikel and Sputnik will participate.

Over the course of three days, the players will train both on and off the ice, while also attending useful theory lessons in which they will learn about the techniques of physical training, how to treat injuries and nutrition. In addition, educational lessons for both players and their parents concerning motivation, discipline and the correct approach to the sport will be organised. At the same time, an entertainment program will be put together for citizens of Zapolyarniy, including a shot competition and air hockey. The Red Machine training camp will finish on Sunday 26 January.

"It's very important that the RIHF and Nornickel are holding these training camps in the regions," remarked Gimaev. "It will be a true sporting celebration for the children. For me, it will be a fantastic experience to help coach them."
