Russia Hockey Makes Dreams Come True. Sasha Babushkin

18.12.2019
On December 14, as a part of the "Russia Hockey Makes Dreams Come True" project, the dream of 15-year-old defenseman Sasha Babushkin was fulfilled.

Sasha was diagnosed with a complex illness, but thanks to his strength of mind and tough character, he was able to defeat the disease.

The young ice hockey player dreamt of entering the Russian national team's dressing room, lead the players out to the warm-ups and watch how they train. On December 14, 2019, at the Channel One Cup match he fulfilled those two dreams and held the draw for the opening faceoff.

"I can't describe my feelings, I am so happy!" exclaimed Sasha.

Sasha began playing the sport when 4.5 years of age with Atlant, before he moved to Severnaya Zvezda. However, in the autumn of 2018, Sasha became ill and he was subsequently diagnosed with cancer. At first, his parents didn't want to speak publically about the illness, but they were persuaded to eventually reach out to the ice hockey community. Many people wanted to help Sasha and his family.

"This series of events made me understand the meaning behind the phrases "Hockey Family" and "Hockey Brotherhood," said his mother, Elena Babushkina. "We won, but we didn't win alone!"

Sasha Babushkin became a participant of the "Russia Hockey Makes Dreams Come True" project. If you have a dream which the Russian Ice Hockey Federation can fulfill, please send an email to dreams@fhr.ru.
