Alexander Georgiev: "The whole team deserve credit for the shutout"
20.05.2019
Senior Russian national team goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev gave his opinions after shutting out Switzerland 3:0 in the sixth match of the 2019 IIHF World Championship group stage:
- It's really nice to win and not concede any goals. All of the guys deserve credit for this, they helped me and the main thing is that we emerged victorious. Yes, it's true that we took a lot of penalties, but we were solid when shorthanded. The quick goal in the first period was very important. My penalty? My mask was hit and I tried to tell the referees that I couldn't continue. I had to take off my mask, and given that the referees hadn't heard me, they decided to give me a penalty. I could have continued without my mask, but it would have been dangerous.
