Schedule of 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is announced

The International Ice Hockey Federation released  schedule of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, to be held in Belarus, which coincides with launch of tournament’s official website:  www.iihfworlds2014.com.

The tournament will start with the game between hosting Belarus and The USA on a 15 000-seat “Minsk-Arena”. Teams Switzerland and Russia will play a bit earlier the same day. Games of the first day in another group - France vs. Canada and Slovakia vs. Czech Republic will be played on the “Chizhovka-Arena” which is set to be open in November. Acting World Champions - team Sweden - will start their title defense the next day with the game against team Denmark.

It’s the first time home elite division Ice Hockey World Championship for Belarus. 56 games of the Preliminary round and Quaterfinals will be played at both arenas, then the semifinals (24th, May) and medal games (25th, May) will be held at “Minsk-Arena”.

Ticket sales begin at the end of September. Ticketholders as well as all the participants of 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will be able to enter Belarus visa-free from April, 25 until May, 31. Ticket prices for one game will range from approximately 6 to 50 Euros in the Preliminary round, while the ticket prices in the Final round will start from 25 Euros. There will also be available ticket packages for one game day, Preliminary and Final round matches, for all events in one of the areas, and also packages with accommodation and other services, such as meals and sightseeing tours.
