On August 12, Olympic gold medalist and two time world champion Alexander Sidelnikov would have turned 70 years of age.
During his glittering career, Alexander, who was a goalkeeper, won the 1976 Olympic Games, the 1973 and 1974 World Championship, the 1974 USSR championship, 1977 European Champions Cup and the 1974 USSR Cup. Alexander sadly died on 23 June 2003.
