Reaction after Russia U17 won the 2018 Sirius Cup

21.07.2018
After winning the 2018 Sirius Cup in Sochi, under 17 Russian national team head coach Sergei Golubovich and his players shared their opinions.

Russia U17 head coach Sergei Golubovich:

- First of all, we needed to play in a patient manner. The opponents tried hard in this match. Our goal of this competition? To look at different players of this age group. Of course, summer ice hockey is a bit different, but we managed to receive information on a number of players which gives us food for thought. Because of the temperature outside, the quality of the ice is poor and becomes terrible after only five minutes of play. This tournament was a chance for players to hold down a place in the national team.

Russia U17 goalkeeper Semyon Sharabarin:

- Despite the scoreline, this was not an easy game. Nevertheless, we managed to achieve our goal and win the match. My overall impressions from the training camp? It's always nice to be called up to the national team, all training sessions are useful.

Russia U17 forward Marat Khusnutdinov:

- It was a difficult match, the opponents put the pressure on us at the start. We played as a team and got the result. Here, we managed to get a feel for the ice again, we put the coach's schemes into practice.

Russia U17 defenseman Daniil Chayka:

- Our game plan was to be patient, play a defensive game and wait for our chance. I enjoyed training at the Sirius Educational Centre for a month with the guys, I love playing with the national side. We sang our national anthem after winning? It's a tradition.
