Alexei Zhamnov: "We're trying to correct our mistakes"

11.05.2018
In Denmark, the senior Russian national team trained ahead of the upcoming 2018 World Championship match against Switzerland.

The players worked out in these following lines:

Goalkeepers: Koshechkin, Shestyorkin, Sorokin.

Reds: Gavrikov, Kiselevich - Gusev, Datsyuk, Kaprizov.

Whites: Nesterov, Zaitsev - Grigorenko, Anisimov, Buchnevich.

Blues: Yakovlev, Bereglazov - Dadonov, Andronov, Mikheev.

Yellows: Tryamkin - Barabanov, Kablukov, Shalunov, Soshnikov, Mamin.

Senior coach of the Russian national team Alexei Zhamnov:

- I think that Nikita Gusev is ready, he will play against Switzerland tomorrow. Taking into account he's missed a lot of action, maybe things won't go perfectly, but that's fine. Nikita, Pavel Datsyuk and Kirill Kaprizov have chemistry together from the Olympic Games, so we decided to put him in that line. Nevertheless, Evgeny Dadonov will be on the ice when we're on the powerplay.

Dinar Khafizullin has a lower body injury, he will definetly miss one game but I think he'll be back after that. Alexei Bereglazov was registered as to cover the free spot among defensemen, Alexei Byvaltsev will fly home today. I don't think that we underestimated David Krejci and David Pastrnak yesterday, they are high class players and they managed to take advantage of our mistakes. In the future, we need to play with more discipline to avoid such situations. We will decide who will be the 13th forward tomorrow.

Why did we move Kirill Kaprizov to the third line on Thursday? He didn't start the game well and changes were needed. Even without the NHL players, Switzerland have a good team, we need to have the same mindset as we had for playing the Czech Republic.
