Russia U18 are preparing to play the USA

In the 2018 U18 World Championship quarter-final, the under 18 Russian national team will take on arch-rivals the United States.

Today, the players trained in these following lines:

Galenyuk, Zhuravlyov - Marchenko, Morozov, Dorofeev;
Malyshev, Misyul - Zavgorodniy, Zhabreev;
Zamula, Zhilyakov - Spiridonov, Mikhaylov, Rotenberg;
Okhotyuk, Romanov - Kizimov, Sorkin, Iskhakov.

Russia U18 goalkeeping coach Sergei Belov:

- At the end of the training session, we trained our penalty shots and Daniil Isaev used the advice which we had given him. Was it my decision to change Amir Miftakhov against Slovakia? Yes, the team needed a lift and Amir wasn't playing very well. Daniil emerged and performed solidly. In this team, we have three strong goaltenders. Tomorrow, the head coach will decide who to play between the pipes. The Americans conceded five against Switzerland and six against Canada, so if we play in attack, we'll have a chance in this match.

Russia U18 defenseman Daniil Misyul:

- During today's training, we worked on our shooting technique and our special teams. Vasily Podkolzin is injured, which means we only have two forwards in our line. If required, I can play in attack too. I don't know why we are making errors in defence, maybe we're lacking concentration. The Americans are faster and more physical than Finland, we have lost to them on a number of occasions.
