Reaction following the win against Norway at the Euro Hockey Challenge

15.04.2018
Interim Russian national team head coach Ilya Vorobyov:

- There are no easy games with the national team. We were playing against an experienced team, and these two Euro Hockey Challenge matches were a good test for our young players. Today, we played less aggressively than in the first match, but we needed to conserve energy. We only had six defensemen because Nikita Tryamkin and Evgeny Kulik received injuries. Igor Shestyorkin performed well in these two games.

Russian national team coach Anvar Gatiyatulin:

- These were two tough games for us, we didn't have a lot of time to recover. The guys played with patient, waited for their chance and managed to score. We asked the players to play carefully in defence and attack dangerously. Igor Shestyorkin was excellent. It was a surprise for me to be given a chance as national team coach, I feel huge responsibility. My colleagues supported me.

Russian national team goalkeeper Igor Shestyorkin:

- Yesterday's match was tougher for me, I hadn't played for a long time. Today, I had more confidence. There was a couple of dangerous moments in the match when the puck fell at the stick of the opponents, but the guys played with commitment and blocked pucks. When not playing, I trained hard and sessions on the bike helped. It was difficult when Norway pulled their goalkeeper, one time they hit the crossbar before the puck flew directly into my glove. Luck was on our side.
