Reaction after the Euro Hockey Challenge loss to Germany
07.04.2018
Russian Olympic team coach Oleg Bratash:
- In comparison to yesterday's match, this one was completely different. The opponents played like we did on Friday. I can put our performance down to youthfulness and inexperience. They are becoming more experienced as their careers move on. In these matches, we are receiving important information as to who can play for the national team and which players aren't yet ready. Pavel Padakin has a shoulder injury, hopefully it isn't a serious one. He will need time to recover. Soon, we will have Euro Hockey Challenge matches in Norway.
Russian Olympic team defenseman Nikolai Demidov:
- We relaxed a bit. When we were leading 3:1, we could have made the score bigger. Our discipline was lacking. The small details resulted in us picking up a poor result. When Pavel Padakin got injured, we were angry that the opponents played so rough against him.
Russian Olympic team forward Alexander Khokhlachyov:
- Today, we didn't play as well as on Friday. We relaxed when leading 3:1. We're to blame for this result. In the overtime frame, Germany got lucky and scored the winning goal. We gave the game away, although the Germans played better than yesterday. In the future, we will try to win, the matches against Norway will be difficult too.
