The RIHF's president visited Arkhangelsk
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation's president Vladislav Tretyak made a business trip to Arkhangelsk to make himself familiar with the city's ice hockey infrastructure, and also took part in the meeting of the State Duma committee of physical culture, sport and youth affairs in Arkhangelsk Region. The meeting was devoted to the current state and the development programs of local hockey, as well as the organisation of the student league's team and the construction of a new ice hockey arena.
Apart from Vladislav Tretyak, the State Duma's deputy Yelena Vtorygina, the vice-chairman of the city's council Maxim Karelsky and the chairman of regional public organisation of the Arkhangelsk Region's hockey system Denis Krasavin also took part in the event.
We add that the RIHF's president was not satisfied with what he heard at the meeting. At the moment there is only one ice hockey arena in Arkhangelsk Region, however a new ice rink is due to be opened on the 19th of March in Severodvinsk. In Vladislav Tretyak's opinion, this is not enough at all given that there are 1.2 million inhabitants of the hockey loving region. Vladislav wants to meet with the head of Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov to resolve this matter.
In the evening, the RIHF president visited the Be Like Pro hockey center along with famous boxer Nikolai Valuev.
