World Championship. Russia - Denmark

12.05.2016

Today on the 12th of May, the Russian national team will play its fourth group stage game of the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Moscow.

Our opponents today will be Denmark, and despite not being recognized as one of ice hockey’s big hitters, they can’t be underestimated. The Danes defeated Norway 3:0 in their World Championship opener, and so far have only one regulation loss – 2:5 against Sweden. NHL forwards Nikolaj Ehlers and Lars Eller are their main danger men, while goaltender Sebastian Dahm already has one shutout to his name.

Russia have been improving with every match, and have now recorded two wins straight against Kazakhstan 6:4 and Latvia 4:0 respectively. Artemiy Panarin was our star man in the previous game against Latvia, as he put in a superb 2+2 performance.

In past World Championships, these two teams met as recently as 2015, as Russia tallied up a large 5:2 win. Only once have Denmark made the World Championship quarter-finals, and that was back in 2010.

Remember that if you haven't got a ticket, you can enjoy the game at one of our Moscow fan-zones in Gorky Park and next to the Ice Palace, or in Saint Petersburg at Konyushennaya Square!

The Russia – Denmark match will begin at 20:15 local time inside the Moscow Ice Palace. Match TV will broadcast the game live, and you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
