Reaction after the third match of the Liga Stavok National Team Tour
05.05.2025
Both Roman Rotenberg and Mikhail Grigorenko shared their emotions after the third match of the Liga Stavok National Team Tour.
Russia 25 head coach Roman Rotenberg:
"First of all, I would like to thank the fans here for their fantastic support! We're enjoying playing here in Tolyatti.
"In terms of the game itself, we started well and opened up a solid lead. However, we subsequently committed mistakes which the opponents managed to take advantage of. We will analyse what happened and improve in our upcoming matches. Nevertheless, despite those errors, we recovered from a four-goal deficit and forced OT. Plus, we have to remember that we have a lot of debutants at senior international level in our team, including goalkeeper Denis Popov who was introduced for the third period.
"How can we defeat Belarus? By winning the battles and playing solidly in defence. Even though we lost in overtime, the fact that we managed to equalise in regulation proves that we know how to beat these opponents. We will improve tomorrow!"
Russia 25 forward Mikhail Grigorenko:
"We're trying to find chemistry in our lines. There aren't many games during this tour, so we need to quickly improve and start achieving positive results. Belarus are a good team, they play aggressive ice hockey with the vast majority of their players having played in the second round of the KHL playoffs with Dinamo Minsk. Of course, it's a shame that we couldn't win for the fans today, but tomorrow we will do our best to put things right."
