Russia W18 held two friendly matches against Torpedo

In Novogorsk, the junior Russian women's national team competed in two friendly matches against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Women's Hockey League, losing 1:5 and 1:4 respectively.

The only Russian goal in the maiden game was scored by Polina Epova midway through the second stanza. Unfortunately for our team, though, Torpedo tallied three quickfire markers in the third period within three minutes to put the game to bed.

In the second encounter, Maria Polozkova gave Russia hope of a comeback from two goals down when getting on the board in the 54th minute. Nevertheless, Torpedo weren't to be denied their second win in a row, with the opponents grabbing two empty-netters during the concluding minute of play.

Two penalty shootouts were staged after the matches regardless. The first finished in a draw, before our players subsequently won the second 2:1.
